LG People Choice Award 2011
The LG People's Choice Awards allows cricket fans the unique chance to vote for a galaxy of international stars who have produced outstanding performances in the past year.
For the second time in the history of the LG ICC Awards, fans will have the opportunity to decide the winner. Voting will be open until 11am GMT on 25 August with the winner will be announced on 12 September at the LG ICC Awards in London.
The short list, nominated by an elite panel of cricket experts headed by former West Indies captain Clive Lloyd, along with Pakistan's Zaheer Abbas, England's Mike Gatting, South Africa's Paul Adams and New Zealand's Danny Morrison, was selected using criteria set out by LG and the ICC. This dictated that the nominees should have displayed some of the attributes regarded by LG as in line with their corporate qualities such as innovation, dynamism, strength in decision-making, performing well under pressure and executing a plan to distinction.
Nomines Are::..
Hashim Amla
One of
the most consistent performers in South Africa's side, he has
established himself as one of the leading batters in international
cricket. In a phenomenal year for him with the bat in ODI cricket, he
hit two centuries against Zimbabwe and scored tons against Pakistan,
India and the Netherlands. He also hit Test hundreds against Pakistan
and India.M S Dhoni

He led India to its second ICC Cricket World Cup triumph through brilliant captaincy, with the highlight being 91 not out against Sri Lanka in the final. He also helped maintain India's number one in the Reliance ICC Rankings, leading his side to series victories over Australia, New Zealand and the West Indies.
Chris Gayle
Although it could be argued that it has been a difficult year for Gayle, he produced one of the greatest Test innings of all time against Sri Lanka in November 2010 when he smashed 333 off only 437 balls at Galle. He struck 34 fours and nine sixes and became one of the few players in history to have scored two triple centuries in Tests.
Kumar Sangakkara
He showed outstanding leadership in captaining his side to runners-up spot at the ICC Cricket World Cup 2011 in a tournament that he scored a century against New Zealand. In the Test arena he also struck centuries against the West Indies and England. Off the field, he has established a reputation as one of the leading role models in the sport and has been an outstanding ambassador for the ICC's HIV/AIDS awareness campaign.
Jonathan Trott
He has established himself as a key player in England's successful year. A vital member of the Ashes winning side, he consistently scored runs under pressure, achieving brilliant centuries at Brisbane and Melbourne, as well as huge hundreds against Sri Lanka at Cardiff and Pakistan at Lord's. Top 10 Animals Which Live More
Red sea urchin
The red sea urchin or Strongylocentrotus franciscanus is found only in the Pacific Ocean, primarily along the West Coast of North America. It lives in shallow, sometimes rocky, waters from the low-tide line down to to 90 meters, but they stay out of extremely wavy areas. They crawl along the ocean floor using their spines as stilts. If you discover one, remember to respect your elders some specimens are more than 200 years old.
Turritopsis Nutricula Jellyfish
This species of jellyfish might be the only animal in the world to have truly discovered the fountain of youth. Since it is capable of cycling from a mature adult stage to an immature polyp stage and back again, there may be no natural limit to its life span. Because they are able to bypass death, the number of individuals is spiking. We are looking at a worldwide silent invasion, says Dr. Maria Miglietta of the Smithsonian Tropical Marine Institute.
Turtles

Tortoises are considered the longest living vertebrates on Earth. One of their oldest known representatives was Harriet, a Galpagos tortoise that died of heart failure at the age of 175 years in June 2006 at a zoo owned by the late Steve Irwin. Harriet was considered the last living representative of Darwins epic voyage on the HMS Beagle. An Aldabra giant tortoise named Adwaita died at the rumored age of 250 in March 2006.
Geoducks
Tuataras
The word dinosaur is commonly used to describe an old person, but when it refers to a tuataras, the term is as literal as it is metaphorical. The two species of tuatara alive today are the only surviving members of an order which flourished about 200 million years ago they are living dinosaurs. They are also among the longest-lived vertebrates on Earth, with some individuals living for anywhere between 100 and 200 years.
Lamellibrachia tube worms
Bowhead whales
Also known as the Arctic whale, the bowhead is by far the longest living mammal on Earth. Some bowhead whales have been found with the tips of ivory spears still lodged in their flesh from failed attempts by whalers 200 years ago. The oldest known bowhead whale was at least 211 years old.
Koi
Koi are an ornamental, domesticated variety of the common carp. The are common in artificial rock pools and decorative ponds. Amazingly, some varieties are capable of living more than 200 years. The oldest known koi was Hanako, a fish that died at the age of 226 on July 7, 1977.
Antarctic sponge
Perhaps due to the extremely low temperatures of the Antarctic Ocean, this immobile creature has an extremely slow growth rate. Some estimate the oldest known specimens are 1,550 years old.
Ocean quahog
The ocean quahog (Arctica islandica) is a species of clam that is exploited commercially.Researchers have interpreted the dark concentric rings or bands on the shell as annual marks, much like a tree has rings. Some collected specimens have been calculated to be more than 400 years old

Samsung's Galaxy S II smartphone hasn't launched here in the US yet but the Android-based phone is selling like gangbusters over in Europe, Japan and Samsung's home base of Korea. News.com reports that according to a Samsung statement the phone has now sold over 5 million units worldwide in just 85 days. The Galaxy S II is just entering the Chinese market this week which will likely see an increase in sales.
The Galaxy S II, based on Google's Android 2.3 operating system, has a number of impressive hardware features including a large 4.3 inch screen, a dual-core processor with speeds of 1.2 GHz, an eight megapixel camera in the back, a two megapixel camera in the front for video chat and more. The high sales of the Galaxy S II may have lead Samsung to sell a total of between 18 million and 21 million smartphone units in the quarter that ended on June 30.
The United States will soon be able to get Galaxy S II fairly soon. The smartphone is scheduled to be made available from Verizon Wireless, AT&T and Sprint sometime in August. All three wireless carriers will give the phone a different name. Verizon Wireless will call the phone the Samsung Function, AT&T will name it the Samsung Attain and Sprint will put the Samsung Within label on the phone. So far there's no word on what the pricing will be like for the various versions of the Galaxy S II.
