With around 5-8% of males diagnosed colorblind, it is increasingly important for web designers to see how colorblind users on the Internet perceive color combinations.

If you are interested in designing a more accessible website or are curious to experience websites from the eyes of a color blind, a new service called ColorFilter will help.

Color Blind Me will help you see web pages as they appear to people who may be color blind. For example, this is how the Technobytes home page will look to the colorblind visitor.

why Facebook is in blue...

This is original design of Facebook when it was called thefacebook.com – you were required to have an .edu email address to even open an account on Facebook.

This is Facebook now – open for all and 500 million people are using it already.

why it is blue...

Facebook has gone through some major redesigns in the past few years but one part that has more or less stayed the same in all those years is the site’s blue color.

Everything is so blue about Facebook right from the sign-up page to the logo, their mobile app and even the site pop-ups that have shades of blue. Why?

I was recently listening to an episode of Twig where host Leo Laporte pointed to this New Yorker story on Mark Zuckerberg that seems to explain why Facebook is all blue in color.

The young Facebook founder is color blind but can see blue:

Colors don’t matter much to Zuckerberg; a few years ago, he took an online test and realized that he was red-green color-blind. Blue is Facebook’s dominant color, because, as he said, “blue is the richest color for me – I can see all of blue.”

Facebook is not the only Internet brand the loves blue. An interesting study by Color Lovers has revealed that blue is the most popular and dominant color among the top 100 sites in the world followed by the red color.
Update: @Emil Kostov sended this note on why Facebook maybe sticking with blue:

It is part of their well planned Marketing plan. Most colors distract and make the human eye focus on them while blue act as a transparent palette for 65% of time spending watching the main background aka index space. It is well known also that blue color is the nirvana for the brain, as well green. Well, their choice make the competition envy most of the time.

View Files Using Lows Level NTFS Tables

Now-a-days, we do many partitions of our drives for better utilization of memory. But this partition is kept hidden for the sake of simplicity of interface. But there are situations when we need to see this partition in the drives. For example, for browsing deleted files and restore them using tools like NTFS Undelete.
For this, there is a freeware called NTFSWalker which is used for viewing the files by walking through the NTFS partitions on any media readable by computer including hard disks, memory cards, USB flash drives and floppy disks.
This tool has its own drivers for reading NTFS partitions. It will take you through the low-level structure of the file system bypassing the Windows file system drivers. You can view all the records in the MFT table including deleted files and also the detailed attribute for each file.

This tool is downloaded in the zip file so, the application has to be first extracted and then installed in the system. After installation when run on the system, the main window of the application will appear simple with few options on it. It will first ask you to choose any of the disc of which you want to see the files. For example, i want to view all my deleted files in the C drive so that i can restore them. For this i will select C drive from the list and click ‘Next’.

Now, it will open the list of files with all the detailed information of each file. The files with a red cross are the deleted files. For example, i have chosen the ‘soccer.png’ file then, its File information,preview and even the Hex data will appear on the right side of the window whereas its size, date of creation, last modification and attributes will be available on the left side of the window.

This tool also provides the option of scanning disk images in the ‘advanced’ tab.

Remember, this tool is only for viewing the minute details of the files and does not provide any options of making changes in the files.

It may be very useful for students of computer science (or professors) who are learning about (or teaching) file systems.

Need To Change Computer’s MAC Address ?

MAC (Media Access Control) Address is supposed to be a permanent and globally unique identification associated with a network adapter, but it is possible to change the MAC address on most of today’s hardware.
In solution to this, reviewing about a new tool called Mac MakeUp with a variety of features.
Mac MakeUp is a smart utility which basically allows you to choose a new MAC address. it is compatible with Windows 7, Windows Vista, 2003, Windows XP and Windows 2000.

Since, it deals with network administrator and Internet security issues so, it needs administrator privilege to run it. The main window will look like this. You first have to select the adapter from the list. The number of all the adapters can be seen in the bottom line of the log window.
In the list of adapters, you can omit the virtual adapters by enabling the ‘Filter virtual interfaces’. ‘Virtual’ adapters mean which are not seen as hardware like dial up adapters.

You can add the new MAC address in the space shown. The manufacturer of this address will be generated automatically. You can also generate the new MAC address randomly in the option ‘Generate Random’ which will show you the list from where you can select your random option.

After selecting the desired MAC address, just click ‘Change’. You can also get back to the original MAC address by selecting ‘Remove’.
There is an option of ‘Extra info’ which does not work and stops the working of the application.

The option of ‘Auto Nic off/on’ lets you disable/enable the network interface when you change its address. With this option the change will be immediate and there will be no need to open network connections applet or use external tools.
The ‘Cycle interface now’ just disables/enables the interface when you press it. The log window also provides the option of saving it to other location by just pressing the right-click in the log window.

There are additional IP features which let you enable, disable or configure several aspect of Windows IP networking. There will be three types of items. Red items are undefined, blue ones are currently undefined whereas black items are currently defined.
TIP: It is advisable to make a backup of current settings with the option of ‘backup current settings’ before experimenting with these options.

This tool also provides command line usage. You can view the commands in the ‘About Mac Makeup’ option present at the top of main window which will open a new window.
